DIGITAL ACCELERATION IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM: WEIGHING EFFECTIVENESS AND CHALLENGES E-COURT IN INDONESIA
Main Article Content
Abstract
The integration of digital justice in Indonesia has developed in response to various classic problems within the justice system, such as process inefficiencies, limited access to services, and demands for transparency. This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital justice, particularly through the e-Court system and electronic courtrooms, and assess their impact on judicial efficiency and accountability. The research method used is a normative juridical approach combined with a qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and document studies. The analysis focuses on the legal framework, supporting policies, and the practice of implementing digital services within the court environment. The results indicate that the implementation of e-Court can simplify case administration, accelerate the trial process, reduce costs, and improve public access to judicial services. Digital justice also contributes to increased transparency and accountability in judicial institutions. However, the effectiveness of its implementation still faces several obstacles, including the digital divide, limited technological infrastructure, low public literacy, and issues of data security and regulatory synchronization. This study recommends strengthening infrastructure, increasing public outreach, ongoing training, and improving regulations to ensure digital justice in Indonesia runs more optimally, inclusively, and fairly.
